Hello! I recently had the pleasure of taking a private full-day tour with David of Stonehenge and New Forest Tours, and it truly exceeded my expectations. As a passionate historian, David's depth of knowledge and enthusiasm for sharing the fascinating stories behind the iconic sites made it an unforgettable experience. He picked my family up promptly in a comfortable van and immediately put us at ease with his friendly nature. At Stonehenge, he spent over an hour explaining every detail and bringing the site to life - even pulling out rock samples and personal photographs to enrich the visit. His insights as a former employee allowed us special access and encounters. Though unable to touch the stones at Stonehenge, David made up for it with a stop at the Avebury stone circle where we could get up close. He filled the drive with colorful commentary, pointing out landmarks like the painted horses on the hillside. Beyond the ancient sites, we loved exploring the charming Cotswolds villages and stopping into pubs and shops where the locals clearly knew David well. With David's expertise and gift for storytelling, the day flew by and was packed with awe-inspiring sights. Ahoy Sir George!!!! My wife and I are now back home after our wonderful transatlantic voyage on the Queen Mary! I just wanted to thank you for setting us up the THE BEST TOUR GUIDE IN ENGLAND!!!!! We loved Jonny!!!!! He had a nice clean van, offered bottled water, and gave us such a great tour!!!!! Took us through a forest instead of a crowded highway, and was very Knowledgeable about world affairs, the countryside, and such! We were very pleased to find out he had worked at Stone Henge for 4 years and knew everyone there, and was very knowledgeable about the history of Stone Henge!! He gave us a great tour, had books and samples of stone tools too!!! We also wanted to experience a local pub, so Jonny recommended a fantastic place. We invited him in with us for lunch and had fish and chips and English pie,,, SO WONDERFUL!!!!! We could not have had a better guide or day in England thanks to Jonny!!! He told us he and his girlfriend may visit the U.S. next summer, and we invited them to come and spend a day and evening with us at our lake home. Hi George. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We loved every second of our tour with David. When we arrived at Charing Cross, David was just pulling in. He added history with humor, conversations were interesting and lively. I want to let you know that David went above and beyond with the 4 of us on the tour to Stonehenge and the Cotswolds. He found a place for us to have a toastey…we Americans had never had one and he knew where to take us. The two ladies on the tour have a rather unique tradition of going for a paddle whenever we are in holiday… (Admittedly odd, we know). E route to Stonehenge, he gave us a history lesson on the area. While we were touring Stonehenge, David went online and found a place for us to stick our feet in the cold waters of Castle Combe, keeping the paddling tradition alive and well. He, aeven after all of our stops, kept the conversations going in the van as we returned to London. He made reservations for us at an Indian restaurant at the drop off point. Our tour exceeded all of our expectations! David claims that if he were standing beside King Charles, people would ask, “Who is that standing beside David?” Haha…David is legendary, according to David! I've been meaning to send a feedback on our tour with Kiefe (hope to have spelled his name right) on sept. 18th last year but since we got back home things were a bit hectic. Anyway, I just wanted to say that we had a truly wonderful experience, Kiefe is very kind and passionate about the subject and we were spellbound by his enthusiasm. Although time was a bit pressing due Kiefe managed the schedule masterfuly and things did not feel rushed and he strived to squeeze any sights that he deemed relevant during our excursion to Bath, the cotswolds and Stonehenge. There was absolutely no-one else at Stonehenge when we walked around, so that was just super. Oliver said he'd never been able to walk alone around the entire monument before, so that was a first for him. He was very knowledgeable, but not boring, so that makes all the information much more interesting and easier to listen to This tour made getting from place to place very easy, and there are so many places we have not yet had a chance to visit. Saved my family a fortune as Stonehenge alone was £20 per person. I purchase via your discount link and we picked up our overseas visitor pass at a special desk at Stonehenge whilst touring with your company. We did show proof (passport) of overseas residency but it was super easy and NO LINE to get the OVP and then zip right into Stonehenge. We plan to visit a furher 20+ English Heritage sites

Thanks for arranging our helicopter flight last summer. Seeing Stonehenge and the Wiltshire landscape from the air was awe inspiring and your guide and pilot did a fabulous job. The cherry on the cake was our VIP access experience afterwards where we were treated to an amazing sunset. We will be back!
It really is more than a 'pile of rocks' in a fieild! Our guide mest us at the visitor centre and walked us across the landscape giving is an inreal view of the monument. We had no idea how many neolithic sites surround the stones and the guide brought the history, astronomy, myths and legends alive. I hight recommend booking a guide if you are visiting Stonehenge for the 1st time. P.S wear some boots and take a coat if you want to makwe the most of the walk.

Hi Guys, we booked your 'silly o clock' sunrise tour which was absolutley amazing. We were very lucky with the British weather and witnessed a perfect sunrise. Sadly the Stonehenge shop did not open until 9am so very happy we could purchase a t-shirt for the kids and obligatory Stonehenge fridge magnet from your site once we got back the the U.S. STONEHENGE ROCKS!!!!!!!!

We liked our guide Nick, he is a real Stonehenge expert and we enjoyedthe walk with the metall rods (Nick knows the word for this - where you cansense the energy). It was fantistic! Nick made our guided tour of Stonehenge the highlight of our trip to England. He was not only knowledgeable about all of the sites we visited, but just as excited to be there as we were! He helped us take some amazing photos of our family during our inner-access and his shots were the best ones of ourtrip (thanks, Nick!). We quickly felt as if we had known him for years, yet he made sure to give us time to take in Stonehenge, Avebury Circle, and LacockVillage as a family. Our three children were smitten by Nick's excitement and his explanations of the mystical qualities of the region. Wow........................I am lost for words at what a brilliant tour your company (especially Nick) provided.If you read the trailing e-mail you can read where you promised 'a great tour', what an understatement. It is not very often in today's business worldwhere a promise is made and then delivered beyond customer expectations, rest assured you have achieved this in spectacular style. We had at this point been on several guided tours that were good butcertainly not special.Nick picked us up at the station as described in the instructions, fromthe minute we met Nick any tension or apprehension were immediately dispersed. When you have a tour guide like Nick who is passionate, excited and wants tocommunicate his interest, the tour takes a totally different route. The kids absolutely loved the whole experience and were engrossed in the many different thoughts around the stones origins. Having access to the stones (no-one touchedthem as the explanation from Nick made this a priority) with just our family for a short period was a very special memory and again very much unexpected but again all part of the exceptional experience. Everybody we speak with loves the attached photograph and everybody wespeak with asks who were the tour company we used, obviously we let them know it was you. We just finished the most wonderful three days of touring. Keith made our tourto Stonehenge fantastic. The knowledge that he imparted to us about Stonehenge was unbelievable. Keith made the trip to Bath extremely interesting. Another highlight of the trip was taking us to Castle Come where we had lunch in abeautiful pub The village was exactly what we had wanted to see. Keith was a fantastic, knowledgeable, extraordinary guide. He added so much to our day. Oliver was our guide for 2 days. What an outstanding two days of touring we had with him as our guide. He listened to our wants as to what we wanted to see and took us to those sights. He is extremely knowledgeable and had many stories to relate about the history of London and its buildings. He was very accommodating to our needs and very polite. We saw everything we wanted to see and dideverything we wanted to do. He gave us a great little walking tour of the town of Windsor with lots of fun facts after we toured Windsor Castle. He accommodated our sons desire tolisten/watch as much of the Federer match as possible at a local English pub.
And of course, his information, knowledge, and pure excitement of Stonehenge and the surrounding areas far surpassed our expectations! Nick made our guided tour of Stonehenge the highlight of our trip toEngland. He was not only knowledgeable about all of the sites we visited, but just as excited to be there as we were! He helped us take some amazing photosof our family during our inner-access and his shots were the best ones of ourtrip (thanks, Nick!). Unfortunately, the Magna Cartawas not on display and most of Windsor was closed because of the Commonwealth State Dinner preparations later in the week but to make up for it, he broughtus on an additional ride through Eton, showed us the school and we even hadtime to walk around a little there. I know that youand I emailed each other about my concerns over my mother's walkingdisabilities and Jai mentioned that if he would have known, he could havearranged for a wheel chair or a stool for us to take with us. I didn't know ifyou knew that he could make those accommodations so I thought I would alsomention that to you if you have future guests that need those services. Friends of ours will be in England in a few weeks and it sounds like they may be bookinga tour as well.

I booked this private tour with George via email several months inadvance--which is necessary to secure limited inner circle access toStonehenge. George was very prompt at responding and answering my questions aswe built a custom tour that included Stonehenge, some King Arthur sites inGlastonbury, and Salisbury Cathedral. He offered no-nonsense advice about whatwe could see in the time constraints (as driving to and from London and betweensites must be factored in). I paid through PayPal. I requested Nicholas as ourguide (my sister and her family had toured with him months earlier). A few weeks before our scheduled tour, I received email confirmation forpick-up time and location (in front of our hotel) and guide (my request for Nicholas was granted). Our pick-up was seamless. Sure, it was VERY early, but Nicholas was willing to chat on the drive to Stonehenge--about the stones and about life inEngland (which was equally interesting, especially the political bits!).What impressed me upon arrival to Stonehenge was Nicholas was onfirst-name basis with the Stonehenge drivers and guards. He obviously visits there often--and not just as a guide but as a member of the Stonehenge society. He is both expert and enthusiast, and it showed in the information he provided while at Stonehenge. It was also obvious that he is a father, as he interactedvery naturally with our two teenaged children. He answered any questions weasked with detail, wit, and intrigue. And he also sensed when to give us timeon our own--allowing us the opportunity to wander amongst the stones toappreciate the mystic atmosphere. Looking at Stonehenge secured behind ropes seems like an underwhelmingexperience after our tour within the circle. To be close up and wander aroundprovided a full perspective, and we are so glad we invested the time and moneyto see the stones in this way.We also enjoyed the Glastonbury sites. To be honest, because we received SO much detail about Stonehenge, the information Nicholas provided about KingArthur seemed to pale a bit in comparison. But he did provide enough backgroundto give context to what we were seeing. We walked up the Tor on our own. The views were incredible. He also showed us the white and red spring healingwaters--and we drank from both. Because it was still early in the morning,there were few people at this site. (And the Chalice Gardens weren't yet open.)He also took us to a wonderful bakery in Glastonbury before we visited theAbbey ruins. He offered some great archeological information while we werethere. And we saw the sites where Arthur's remains were said to be found andthen relocated, as well as the holy Thorn. Nicholas gave us time to wanderthrough the informative compact museum on our own.Our last stop was Salisbury Cathedral. We went into the Charter Houseand saw the Magna Carta. Again, Nicholas provided context about King John onour drive over, so our children knew what they were seeing. And, again, he gaveus time to explore on our own the interior of the cathedral. He was alwaysaccommodating when we asked for a family photo (at the cathedral and alsoearlier at Stonehenge).I will mention just a few negatives to guide others in arranging aprivate tour. George advised that my itinerary was ambitious. We Americans liketo "pack it in"--just in case we never return to an area. He wasright. We barely had time to eat on this 10-hour tour. Much time was spen tdriving. Fortunately, we filled up on pastries at the Glastonbury bakery, butthat was our ONLY food stop. Nicholas would have accommodated a request forlunch, but it would have been at the expense of seeing the cathedral. And whileSalisbury Cathedral is impressive, I think in our case we could have justfocused on Stonehenge and Glastonbury because our children had the opportunityto see other cathedrals and abbeys while on our trip, so it didn't really offera fully unique experience. That being said, I'm not sure how we would haves tructured the rest of our time. Since we had a sunrise tour, the shops a tGlastonbury still weren't open, even after seeing the Tor and springs. But I amsure I could have worked out these details with George in advance.It is always a risk booking tours online--especially when many companiesclaim to be expert in Stonehenge. But I can confidently recommend StonehengeGuided Tours, and specifically Nicholas, for a private tour.

My husband and I booked a private day trip with Stonehenge Guided Toursand could not have been happier. Our driver, Jay, picked us up at our hotel before6am in order to get to Stonehenge on time. During the ride, he discussed thehistory of the British Isles, touching briefly on the Neolithic Period, settingus up for our meeting with our guide, Nick. Nick was amazing- his enthusiasmfor Stonehenge and its history was undeniable. We spent an hour walkingamidstthe stones and Nick pointed out the places where famous figures of thepast had carved their names in the stones. We actually used copper diviningrods to see for ourselves the mysterious energy emanating from the area. Very Cool. There were only three other people at the stones while we were there soit was a great opportunity to take photos and just experience being there; theone hour time allotted was ample for doing both.Because we booked a private tour, the rest of the day was ours and Jaydid not disappoint us. We asked to go to Salisbury Cathedral - wanted to seethe cathedral and one of the four original copies of the Magna Carta. Jay tookus to one of the historic pubs in Salisbury for lunch and then to the ruins ofthe village of Sarun, whose stone buildings were dismantled and carted to Salisbury to build the cathedral. Throughout our drives, Jay provided thehistory and context of what we were going to see. Our final stop was an archeologicalsite yet to be excavated. It has been dubbed "Super Henge" due to itssize, and promises to reveal important information pertaining to Stonehenge andthe Neolithic people.There are many cheaper day trips to Stonehenge, Salisburyand Bath. We were very happy that we paid a bit more money and were able to seethe things we wanted without a constricted time schedule. We will certainly usethis service again on our next trip to England.

Hey George,I just wanted to pass along my sincere thanks and appreciation for Keithand a job well done.He was prompt, energetic and well spirited...especially after the Brexitdebacle!
His first instinct was to get us to Stonehenge as quickly as possible so as toavoid the rain. He took us straight to Woodhenge where he joined us in the backof his van and proceeded to give us an excellent dissertation on the history,geography, geology, sociology and archeology of the entire region. Completewith anecdotal stories and embellishments offered many times through funengagements with our two twelve year kids. He was great with them both thewhole time. We really enjoyed the respect and devotion he has for ancient historyand more recent history, but also for respecting the opinions and beliefs ofothers who surround Stonehenge - from pagan worshippers to professional andamateur archeologists. We learned a ton and had a well rounded appreciation forthe area and its history and culture.From there we headed to Salisbury Cathedral where he was equally giftedat weaving history with more modern events. For example, he went in great depthexplaining to our kids how the Magna Carta formed the philosophical foundationfor the US constitution. Here too, Keith was respectful of both the religiousand political perspectives of this historic place careful not to pass judgmentin any particular direction. He was really good at just putting us in theperiod and showing us the sensitivities of the time and how decisions cameabout. Very well done.By this time it was clear we would not make it to Windsor Castle intime, so he was quick on his feet and hurried us to Hampton Court instead. He pulled up with three minutes to spare, my wife popped out and snagged ticketsand we were in. Keith did a masterful job of working with the staff there toinsure we got to see all the necessary parts of the building. Having watchedThe Tudors on HBO a few years back, this trip variation proved to be theperfect diversion. We wrapped it up with a stroll through Bushy Park and thenback to Kensington.I have to say, the whole day exceeded all of our expectations andKeith's expert guidance, flexibility and upbeat positive energy made for a fulland enriching day. We learned a ton and had a blast doing it. An awesomeadventure that was well worth the money. I just wanted to take a moment and let you know how pleased we are withour Stonehenge sunset tour yesterday. Keith did an outstanding jobguiding us through all the details and knowledge of what is fact and fictionabout Stonehenge. He also was wonderful with both our girls (9yrs and12yrs) in keeping them engaged and interested in site. During the driveover the girls had a drawing contest and Keith cleverly suggested that theydraw a turtle head popping out of the ground, which in turn they later saw instone! Keith showed his passion for stonehenge and his parenting abilityto bring these two activities together in a special combination for mydaughters. No doubt they will remember Stonehenge, Keith's tour and theturtle head for the rest of their lives.

1 week in London and 1 week in Paris and this tour was one of the besthighlight of the trip. Nick was just perfect. It’s probably unfair to him… hewas better than perfect. My sons forfeited their Stonehenge “gifts” just to make sure I would tip Nick more… they are 8 & 13 ! ->that’s how good hewas. Polite, informed, interesting, cool, full of knowledge and professional ontop of it.
EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT AND ABOVE EXPECTATIONS.

As you foreshadowed, it was just fantastic. Keith picked us up right ontime at 4am and took us out to Stonehenge for the sunrise Autumn Equinoxceremony. We were walked in by all the druids who had gathered accompanied bybagpipes and drums – the atmosphere was amazing. And as you said you expected,there were relatively few people there compared to the 23,000 who turned up forthe Summer celebration. So no problems re crowds and getting in amongst thestones. We then went on to Bath and Lacock. Saw all the sights. Keith did not rush us through – indeed we were back at our hotel at more towards the 5pm markrather than the 2pm booked. I think Keith had a great day as well and weappreciated him hanging around with us longer than he was contracted for. Andhis driving was superb – right throughout the trip. So 5 out of 5 star rating. I’ll post a report on Trip Adviser about youguys in the next couple of days. The key point I think which I picked up aboutStonehenge Guided Tours is not only you deliver what you say you will, but yougenuinely go the extra distance and effort to really look after your customersand try to accommodate what they are after. For other tour companies Icontacted in London before being so fortunate to get in contact with you, itwas all too hard.

We just returned from our trip to London, and wanted to contact you andtell you that out of four tours, our best experience was with your tour guide,He was our first tour guide,Merlin and set a standard that the others just couldn't live up to. (We also toured with British Shrinkers and Evans Evans.).Melin was very organized, and was friendly and very knowledgeable. He was able to add so many interesting insights to the things that we saw. I am a highschool teacher in the U.S., and I was impressed by the fact that David answeredall of our questions about everything, whether profound or rather stupid. We found ourselves comparing every other guide to him throughout the entire trip.

I've read many of the comments from other clients and I just have to addmine. We have visited London several times, but wanted to get out and see thecountryside this time. Are we ever glad we choose the 5000 Years in a Day tourto Salisbury, Stonehenge, Old Sarum, and Avebury. We
were picked-up right at the front door of our hotel, the mini-van wascomfortable, but best of all the guide (David) was just great. He really knew his stuff and his delivery was excellent. Although he had done this tour umpteen times, it seemed like he was seeing everything for the first time just like his guests. Thanks again for a great experience that my wife andI still talk about.

This email is in the "better late than never" category.On Saturday, 8May 2011, I took your "magical" day tour to Stonehenge, Glastonbury,and Avebury.When I was younger and visited England, I took a number of toursand, eventually, tired of them. In fact, I had become quite critical and it waswith some trepidation that I signed up for this one...however:1), The minibus wascomfortable and the fact that you limit the number of people per tour is great,2) the tour went places that I actually I wanted to go and there were nounwanted stops for shopping, 3) it was well paced with enough time for alayperson-tourist such as myself to enjoy the sites without being hurried orbeing bored.Our driver-guide was Nick (I'm sure he has a last name but I neverfound it out) and his enthusiasm for what he was doing coupled with a very goodknowledge of what we were seeing made this trip one of the best I have taken ina long time. He was neither ignorant nor cloying and it seemed to me that hewas enjoying the trip almost as much as we were. So thank you for a wonderfulday. I will recommend your company to all of my friends who visit andsomeday...after this trip is paid for...I hope to come back and take anothertour with you.

was on the 7th August Special Access tour with Nick and learned somuch from him. He also made sure that every one in our group of 11 was having agood time. I never felt rushed at any of the sites we visited. While there was'group time' where David gave us history and explanations, we also had time to wander around. Nick was very helpful in answering any questions we had and alsooffered suggestions for the rest of my stay in London.
I took this tour on the very first day of my trip and when I returned to myhotel that night, I thought to myself, 'How can the rest of my trip evermeasure up to today?!'
